Belo Horizonte is confirmed as the venue for UFC 147

Now it's official! After many rumors and speculation, the city of Belo Horizonte was confirmed as the venue for UFC 147, an event scheduled for June 23rd. In an official statement, released this Friday, Marshall Zelaznik, director of international development at UFC, announced that Ginásio do Mineirinho will host the TUF Brasil final and the long-awaited rematch between Vitor belfort e Wanderlei Silva.

“It’s great for our fans and for the UFC to be able to hold events in new parts of Brazil. The UFC is exploding across the country and Minas Gerais is an ideal place for this”, said Zalanznik, who made a point of praising Mineirinho. “Not only has the arena hosted great shows over the years, it is also located in a touristy and accessible area of ​​the city. It will certainly be a fantastic experience for the fans”, added the director.

Despite confirmation from the UFC, the contract with ADEMG – the entity that manages Mineirinho – has not yet been signed. But Ultimate directors will be in Brazil next Wednesday to make the agreement official. Vitor belfort will also be present at the signing ceremony.
