Jon Jones faces Dan Henderson in September

The schedule of the youngest champion in UFC history remains hectic. After successfully defending his light heavyweight belt at UFC 145 against Rashad evans, Jon Jones You already know when you will have your next appointment with the organization.

UFC president Dana White confirmed on Twitter that Jones will face Dan Henderson on September 1st in Las Vegas. The boss did not inform the event, but it is likely that the meeting will be the main fight of the UFC 151.

This will be the first title fight that Jones will have in the fight capital of the world, which shows that the UFC already considers him a top star. “Bones” took the belt from Mauritius Shogun at UFC 128, held in the city of Newark, in the state of New Jersey. He then defended the title against Quinton jackson at UFC 135, held in Denver, Colorado. The second defense, against the Brazilian Lyoto Machida, was held in the Canadian city of Toronto, at UFC 140. The match against Evans took place in Atlanta, capital of the American state of Georgia.

Jones' victory over Evans was his seventh in a row since his disqualification against Matt Hamill, the only setback of the champion's career. The fight also marked his fourth consecutive victory over a former UFC champion and his third successful defense of the belt.

Veteran Henderson, who will be 42 years old on the day of the fight, has won 7 in the last 8 meetings, with fights in the middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight categories. During the break he lost the Strikeforce middleweight title fight to Jake Shields, took the light heavyweight title from Rafael Feijão and beat the legend Fedor Emelianenko. Rehired by UFC, won Mauritius Shogun at UFC 139, in an epic fight, considered by many to be one of the best in the history of MMA.

    It will definitely be a great fight, mainly because Hendo is very motivated to fight since his victory over Shogun, – which in my opinion should have been a draw – and in the last defense of his belt against Rashad Evans, I didn't see Jon Jones being very motivated. It will be a great challenge for Hendo and I think he can take the belt from Bones.
