The Brazilian Thiago Pitbull has a new opponent at UFC 149, an event scheduled to take place on July 21, in Calgary, Canada. Initially, the athlete from Ceará was scheduled to face Yoshihiro Akiyama, but the Japanese suffered an injury in training and is out of action. To replace him, the Ultimate organization acted quickly and called up Afghan Siyar Bahadurzada.
Bahadurzada debuted in Ultimate in April, when he needed just 42 seconds to knock out the Brazilian Paulo thiago at UFC on Fuel 2, an event held in Sweden. Pitbull, on the other hand, seeks rehabilitation on the show. The Brazilian, who has a record of 19 wins and nine losses, has lost four in his last six appearances, the last being to Martin Kampmann at UFC on FX 2, held in March, in Australia.
The main fight of UFC 149 will be between José Aldo and Erik Koch, valid for the featherweight belt. In addition to Pitbull and Aldo, the show will also feature three more Brazilians: Rodrigo Minotauro returns to the octagon against Cheick Congo, while his compatriots Mauricio Shogun and Thiago compete in the light heavyweight division.
