The fight for the welterweight belt (up to 77kg) really became a soap opera. After provoking each other and publicly declaring their dislike for each other, Kamaru Usman (champion) and Colby covington they do not appear to be close to an agreement to make the long-awaited duel official. While the Englishman has accumulated eight consecutive victories, the last over the Brazilian, Rafael dos Anjos, in July this year, the Nigerian numbers are even more impressive. Kamaru currently has 14 consecutive victories and has never even been defeated in the UFC. His only setback came in 2013, when he was submitted by the American Jose Caceres.

Usman and Edwards are old acquaintances. The fighters have already had the opportunity to share the octagon once, in a match valid for UFC Orlando, in December 2015. On that occasion, the Nigerian got the better of him and defeated his rival in a unanimous decision by the judges.

Usman, 31, in turn, has 16 fights, with 15 wins and one loss.
