Dominick Cruz suffers injury and rematch with Urijah Faber is postponed

UFC 148 will only feature the fight between Anderson Silva e Chael Sonnen valid per belt. The other fight also valid for title, between Dominick Cruz e Urijah faber, is postponed. This is because Cruz suffered an injury during training and will not be able to defend his reign in the bantamweight category. The information was released on Monday night by several specialized websites in the United States, and shortly thereafter confirmed by Dana White, president of the UFC.

It is not yet known whether Faber will have a new opponent at the event, scheduled to take place on July 7th in Las Vegas, or will wait for Cruz to recover. On Twitter, Dana said that new information will be released soon. “Stay tuned for new information”, said the top hat on the microblog.

The fight between Cruz and Faber, who are the current North American TUF coaches, would be the end of the trilogy between them. In the first duel, held at WEC 26, in 2007, Urijah submitted Dominick in the first round. But in the rematch, which took place in 2011, at UFC 132, Cruz managed to win a unanimous decision and defend the UFC belt.
