One of the biggest promises of the new male generation in MMA, Thominhas Almeida, is close to returning to the Octagon. The bantamweight (up to 65,1kg), who is recovering from an eye injury, confessed that he will soon be back in official combat. The announcement was made in satisfaction, on his official 'Instagram' account, following questions from fans about his recent absence from Ultimate.

“I've been receiving a lot of messages, asking when the next fight will be, the date of the next fight, if I've left the UFC… Even if I've retired. I still don’t have a fight scheduled, I’m still in the UFC and fortunately I’m far from retiring”, said the fighter.
Almeida made a point of explaining the reason for his absence from the company's cards, given that his last commitment took place in January last year, when the Brazilian was surpassed by the Puerto Rican, Rob font, at UFC 220.
“What happened is that I suffered an injury preparing for a fight at the beginning of the year (2019) and had to undergo surgery. I am in the final process of recovery. Injuries are part of an athlete’s life, even more so in contact sports”, declared Thominhas.
The São Paulo native did not set a date for his possible return, but speculated that he could enter the Octagon again at the end of the year or at the beginning of 2020.
"I am fine. I take good care of myself and train, but I'm not yet ready to fully prepare for a fight. I believe that the end of this year or the beginning of next year, if everything goes well, I should return, concluded the athlete.
Despite being in a good moment in his career, Almeida is still considered one of Brazil's hopes in the bantamweight category, which is currently dominated by the North American Henry Cejudo. Thominhas debuted in the UFC in 2014 and won four consecutive victories, until suffering his first defeat in his career when he was beaten by the former champion of the category, cody garbrandt.
The 28-year-old Brazilian is coming off two consecutive setbacks and is waiting to return to put on good fights in Ultimate. In his professional record, Thominhas has already had 25 fights, with 22 victories and only three negative results.
