The Brazilian Chris Cyborg is close to having its next home announced. After her contract with the UFC, her former employer, was not renewed, the Curitiba native studied proposals from other companies. Bellator, a direct competitor of Ultimate, is one of those interested in having the fighter. The company's president, Scott Coker, began investing in the athlete as soon as he learned that, in fact, the UFC would not renew Cris. According to Coker, the hiring should be formalized in the coming weeks. The statement was made in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.

“You know how these things are. They take time,” Scott said.

Knowing that Cyborg would have her last fight of her current commitment to Ultimate at the end of July, when she faced the former Invicta FC champion, Felicia spencer, the competitor's agent didn't wait for Dana White, president of the UFC, to make a new proposal to the Brazilian and immediately took to social media to praise Cris' performance in his victory over Spencer. At the time, MMA enthusiasts were curious to know what direction the Curitiba native's career would take.

After friction with Dana, the option not to draw up another contract was made official and the Brazilian was officially out of Ultimate. The expectation was that Cyborg would have a new fight against her compatriot Amanda nunes, for whom Cris was defeated in December last year and lost the featherweight belt (up to 65,7kg.). At the time, the 'Leoa' shocked the world, as she was considered the 'underdog' in the clash, as the Curitiba native was known for her strength, aggression and for being undefeated for almost 15 years.

Cyborg's dismissal frustrated the plans of fans who would like to watch a new battle, as the first one lasted less than a minute. Curiosity, then, to know whether a new confrontation would have a new outcome was, in fact, left over.

If it becomes official in Bellator, Cyborg will join the company to try to dethrone the Canadian, julia budd, who today boasts the featherweight champion belt. Julia, 36 years old, has been champion since 2017. The fighter won the title by beating Marloes Coenen and, after winning, defended the belt on three occasions.

If confirmed in Bellator, Cyborg will arrive to try to regain her position as the most feared athlete in women's MMA.
