Henry Cejudo sends a message to Aldo: 'He is the King of Rio, I am the King of the World'

Flyweight and bantamweight champion accepts challenge made by Brazilian, who revealed his desire to leave the featherweight category and try his luck in the 61,2kg

Last week, the Brazilian, José Aldo, former featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg), surprised MMA enthusiasts by declaring his real intention to work in the bantamweight category (up to 61,2kg). On the same occasion, Manauara challenged the current owner of the division belt, Henry Cejudo, for a fight. Knowing the intentions of the 'People's Champion', the North American responded positively to the challenge. The statement was made in a recent interview at UFC 241.

I have a message for you: 'You have a legend, who is the King of Rio, but I am the King of the World. I have two belts. I am the best in history”, said Cejudo in a message to the Brazilian public.

The athlete also took the opportunity to provoke José Aldo, confirming their mutual desire to share the Octagon with Manauara.

"José Aldo, I have a message for you: 'I'm coming to kill you. I hope you’re ready”, concluded the fighter.

In his last commitment, Henry, after defeating the Brazilian Marlon moraes and win the vacant bantamweight title, he declared, still in the octagon, his desire to be able to face legends of the sport. On that occasion, the Olympic champion challenged names like Urijah faber, cody garbrandt e Dominick Cruz.

José Aldo He wasn't among the names mentioned by Cejudo, but he seems determined to change his routine to reach the weight limit for the category and try to dethrone the current champion.

UFC president, Dana White, stated that he admires the Brazilian's competence in any division, but does not believe that the man from Manaus will be able to reach 61,2kg. The Brazilian has already had a history of difficulties in reaching the featherweight limit, around four kg above his current target.

Aldo recently renewed his contract with Ultimate after raising rumors about a possible early retirement. In his last appearance, the fighter was defeated by Alexander Volkanovsky No. UFC 237, in May, in Rio de Janeiro.

If negotiations go ahead, the confrontation could only take place in 2020, as Henry is recovering from shoulder surgery after his last triumph in the UFC 238, in June.
