The heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg.), Daniel Cormier, is close to making history again. After becoming one of the athletes who hold two belts in different categories in the UFC, the fighter wants more. If you defeat Stipe Miocic this Saturday (17), at UFC 241, the fighter wants to be considered the greatest athlete in the heavyweight division in history. In a recent interview with 'Combate', DC spoke about his expectations for this weekend's duel.

DC, however, will enter the Octagon aware that they will face a different opponent than the one they faced last year. According to the American, Stipe should come more prepared and focused on not falling into the traps that cost him the title in July 2018. The expectation is that the former champion will fight a safer fight and try to exploit the possible flaws in the strategy of Cormier.
“I think he will be more worried about me in the short distance. I think he will try to maintain a much greater distance throughout the fight, and he will try to impose his pace, hold back more. In the last fight, we were going at a very fast pace and he started to get tired, so I think this time he will go slower so that the fight lasts longer”, said Daniel.
The champion, however, stated that, if his opponent chooses to fight a long duel, who does not take initial actions and waits for his error, the fight will be resolved according to resistance and, according to DC, in this aspect, the champion takes advantage.
“If the fight is longer, it’s all mine. Physical resistance is my last name, I can fight all night. We were just getting started in that fight. We were literally just eating the appetizer, we didn't even have time to eat the soup or the salad. We hadn’t even reached the main course”, concluded the number one.
Cormier, currently 40, is nearing retirement. During his career, the athlete always made a point of stating that he had no desire to perform after turning 40. However, an injury at the beginning of the year prevented him from having his likely last fight before reaching the age limit. It is a fact, however, that there are rumors going around behind the scenes in MMA that, if he defeats Stipe again, a new fight against his eternal rival, Jon Jones, can be forwarded. The two athletes have already signaled their desire for the fight to take place. Everything will be resolved after this weekend's duel.
