Just two weeks after beating his compatriot Alexandre pantoja, at UFC 240, the man from Pará already has a new commitment scheduled with the organization. The fighter will face Tim Elliott on October 12, at UFC San Francisco, in the United States. The information was released by 'Combate'.

Many believed that the great duel between Deiveson and Pantoja could give the winner a chance to fight for the belt, or even face the current number one in the rankings, Joseph Benavidez, since the title holder, Henry Cejudo, is recovering from shoulder surgery and is only expected to return to the octagon in 2020. The fight between the Brazilians represented the third fight on the preliminary card and was chosen as the fight of the night by the UFC board, earning the athletes a prize of US$50 thousand (around R$190 thousand), each.

Figueiredo, however, even after his great performance against an elite opponent, was chosen to play against the current number six in the division. Elliott has not had a professional fight since December 2017, when he was defeated by Mark De La Rosa via submission at UFC 219. The setback marked the athlete's fourth performance since he returned to Ultimate in 2016. The athlete had already been part of of the company's group of fighters between 2012 and 2015.

Upon his return to the UFC in 2016, Tim had the opportunity to challenge for the bantamweight belt, but ended up defeated by the legendary Demetrious Johnson. During his time away from Ultimate, the North American was champion of Titan FC.

Deiveson, with his triumph over Pantoja, resumed the good phase of his career. The man from Pará had suffered his first defeat in his career after being beaten by his compatriot Jussier formiga, in March of this year. However, the convincing performance against Alexandre put Figueiredo back in the spotlight of the category.
