The end of the soap opera between UFC and Cyborg really seems to have come to an end. After officially giving up on renewing the contract with the Brazilian, the company's president, Dana White, stated that the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg) will continue without the Curitiba native. In a recent interview with the UFC channel on 'YouTube', the athlete reinforced that the biggest name in the category is the current champion Amanda nunes, and will continue looking for opponents to act against the 'Lioness'.

“What I will do is talk to the champion (Amanda). 'Cyborg' is not the future of this category. If you are one of the featherweight women (65,7kg.) and you want to face the best in the world, and you want to be seen as the best, your opponent is Amanda nunes. We will continue to look for talent like Felicia (Spencer), who came and fought the other day, and we will continue to bring new challenges to Amanda. Let's see who's next”, declared the 'boss'.

Cyborg's relationship with the UFC has never been the best. The athlete, for a long time, suffered harsh criticism from White regarding her physical size and appearance. On one occasion, Dana compared the athlete to the former Pride champion, Wanderlei Silva and even insinuated that the woman from Curitiba had a penis.

The trigger for the crisis, however, came when White began to publicly report that Cyborg had denied a rematch against Amanda, by whom she was defeated in the featherweight title fight in December last year. Cris promptly denied the president's statement and the two began exchanging barbs in the press. With the renewal proposal in hand, Cyborg stated that he would agree to sign a one-fight contract, but on the condition that Dana publicly apologized for the insults.

White not only denied it, but also made official his withdrawal from keeping the Brazilian among the group of Ultimate fighters. Cyborg, at the moment, is free on the market and will evaluate the proposals on where he will hold his clashes in the future. The 34-year-old athlete recently confirmed her desire to fight until she is almost 40. One of the Curitiba native's possible destinations could be Bellator, whose president (Scot Coker) has already expressed interest in counting on the former UFC champion.
