The former featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg.), Chris Cyborg is experiencing a moment of doubt within the UFC. With a duel scheduled for this Saturday, at UFC 240, against the former holder of the Invicta FC belt, Felícia Spencer, the Brazilian has not confirmed whether she will renew her contract with Ultimate. In a recent interview with journalists from the MMA press, the athlete avoided answers about formalizing a new contract with the company.

“Actually, I'm focused exactly on this fight on Saturday. Probably, after my appointment on Saturday I will be able to give you these answers”, said Cyborg.

The athlete has been investigated by the board of directors of Bellator, a company that competes with the UFC. Currently, the Curitiba native is in the midst of disagreements with the president of Ultimate, Dana White, with whom she has already had controversy. Recently, the company's 'boss' publicly teased the Brazilian about a possible rematch against Amanda nunes, against whom Cris fought in December last year and lost by knockout in the first round, which resulted in the loss of his organization belt.

Cyborg's relationship with the UFC has never been the smoothest. The fighter has always been known for being one of the most feared and respected athletes in women's MMA due to her talent and the aggressiveness with which she performs her fights. For more than three years, Cyborg was the holder of the Invicta FC belt and, during all this time, the athlete was approached by Ultimate to be part of its group of fighters.

A fight against the former bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg), Ronda Rousey, at times, was considered by both parties. However, the fight was never scheduled and Cris only signed a contract with the UFC in 2016, when the company decided to create a featherweight division so that Cyborg could put on the gloves and fight for the company.

In three years working for the UFC, the Curitiba native had six fights, winning five and being defeated only once, by Amanda nunes. His latest setback put an end to a hegemony of more than 13 years without defeat.
