The fight

The Brazilian Felipe Cabocão won, but was not convincing in their duel at UFC San Antonio. After three rounds in which the athlete tried to perform on the ground and try for the submission, the fighter from Macapá (AP) was unable to impose his best performance on Domingo Pilarte and ended up winning in a split decision from the judges.

Pilarte started the duel betting on low kicks to the Brazilian's body. Felipe, however, defended well and, right from the start, sought the clinch and tried to take the fight to the ground. Domingo tried to defend himself from Felipe's attack on the railing. Time passed and Cabocão kept pressing his opponent against the bars, trying for a takedown and landing some good blows. With just under two minutes left in the round, Felipe got the takedown and tried to get into position for the submission. The North American, however, defended himself well and almost managed to surprise the Brazilian with a guillotine, also defended by Cabocão.

In the second stage, Domingo once again took the initiative, and Felipe once again looked for his opponent's legs to try for a takedown. The North American showed that he studied Cabocão's game, and continued to show efficiency in his attempt to keep the fight standing. After three minutes, Pilarte began to loosen up in the fight and managed to land good blows on the Brazilian's body, who was shaking and already showing signs of fatigue. Felipe's strategy of not fighting on his feet was visible and, on several occasions, attempts to overthrow Pilarte were frustrated.

In the last stage, just after 10 seconds, the fight was interrupted after Felipe delivered an illegal low blow to Domingo. After the return, the fighters started trying for the takedown, looking for the submission. In his attempts, Pilarte did better, managing to take down Cabocão and get to the Brazilian's back, who was partially exposed to a rear-naked choke. Felipe tried his best to defend himself from the North American's attacks, who alternated between reaching for the Brazilian's neck and striking his opponent's face.

Gabriel Silva from Espírito Santo did not have the debut he would have liked within Ultimate. This Saturday (20), at UFC San Antonio, in the United States, despite showing good technique and resistance, the fighter ended up being defeated by the experienced Ray Borg in the third fight on the preliminary card. The defeat also marked the end of the Brazilian's unbeaten career.

The athletes started the fight studying each other in the center of the Octagon. Borg took the initiative, delivering a safe low kick to the Brazilian. Gabriel continued to move a lot in order to wait for the best opportunity to strike. Ray then looked for Silva's legs and began to press the Espírito Santo against the fence. Gabriel remained defending himself and preventing the fight from being taken to the ground. Silva, after pressure from the North American, managed to reverse the situation, take down his opponent and land on top. Borg tried to defend himself and managed to get up. Reaching the end of the stage, Ray once again pressed Silva against the railings, but the Brazilian seemed well prepared for his opponent's attacks.

In the second round, Ray managed to surprise Gabriel early on and put the Brazilian down. With good movement, Borg tried to apply a guillotine choke to Silva, but the man from Espírito Santo managed to free himself from the position. After the difficult moment, Gabriel took control of the fight again and, this time, tried for the submission. The two athletes showed great preparation to overcome the unfavorable conditions. Again, the North American alternated his position and managed to reach Gabriel's back, who defended himself again. In the final minute, Ray managed to land good blows on Silva's face, which shook, but recovered well. Borg then took down the Brazilian again until the horn sounded.

In the last round, Gabriel, right at the beginning, looked for a takedown on Borg, who again defended and put the Espírito Santo back against the fence. Ray managed a nice takedown and, once again, began his submission attempts. As time went by, the athletes began to show fatigue. The athletes' momentum was no longer the same as it had been at the beginning and, in the end, Ray began to dominate the fight against the Brazilian. Behind Silva's back, the American continued to hit the Brazilian in the face, trying to bother the fighter and manage to end the fight. With a minute left to go, Gabriel was still pressed against the bars and, at the last second, landed a spinning elbow that exploded onto his opponent's head, but there was no more time.

In rematch, Roxanne Modafferi loses again to Jennifer Maia

North American Roxanne Modafferi was once again defeated by Jennifer maia in a professional MMA fight. The athletes had already met when they played for Invicta FC, in 2016. On that occasion, the Brazilian emerged victorious in the judges' split decision. This weekend, Maia exceeded expectations and, despite failing to make the weight cut the day before, brought victory to Brazil, this time, by unanimous decision.

The fight began with Jennifer being surprised, right at the beginning, by a punch to the Brazilian's face from Roxanne. After the attempted response, Modafferi began to invest in takedowns and try to pressure Maia against the bars. The Curitiba native managed to free herself from the American's attempt, but Modafferi again tried to return to the grappling fight. The Brazilian managed to get out of the cage, landing a few blows on her opponent's face, who, realizing the danger, tried the clinch against Maia again.

The second round got off to a busier start. Jennifer bet on striking and continued throwing blows at Roxanne's face. The North American, despite being attacked, continued to show courage and walk towards her opponent. After almost two minutes, another direct hit exploded in Modafferi's face, who absorbed the impact well. Realizing the disadvantage, the North American tried and managed to grapple again. Maia managed to get out of the bars and took the duel to the center of the octagon, throwing punches seeking to knock out her opponent. As usual, Roxanne's strategy was to try to wear down the Brazilian's resistance, but Jennifer acted intelligently and moved away whenever possible.

In the final round, Jennifer returned to the Octagon advised by her trainers to manage the result. Safely, the Curitiba native moved away from the grappling and tried to strike Modafferi's counterattack. Little by little, the Brazilian managed to score, connecting jabs and straight shots to the North American's face. After three minutes, Roxanne managed to grab the Brazilian, who quickly moved away. A counter blow from Maia finally rocked Modafferim, but the fighter continued chasing the Brazilian around the octagon. The two fighters returned to compete against the bars, but there was no more time.

The Brazilian Klidson Abreu ignored the knockout force of Sam alvey and defeated his opponent by unanimous decision of the judges. Despite presenting himself in a tense fight, the fighter made good on the strategy outlined by the team and completely nullified his opponent's game. During three rounds, there were few opportunities for the North American to attack against the man from Manaus. The clash marked Abreu's first victory in Ultimate in two fights. Borg, in turn, suffered the third consecutive setback.

The fight began with the two athletes analyzing each other and waiting for the best opportunity to attack. After a minute, Klidson managed to close the distance and grab Sam in an attempt to take the fight to the ground. The fight was stopped after Abreu threw a low blow, causing the referee to move them away. Alvey continued the fight without throwing any blows against the Brazilian, who took advantage of the opportunity to, once again, try to take down his opponent. Abreu managed to land a punch to his opponent's face, which he absorbed well, but still didn't have much action in the fight. At the end of the stage, the athletes began to engage in frank exchanges and brought the audience to their feet, but time ran out.

In the second round, Klidson once again put pressure on the North American, who remained cornered and walking backwards. Having difficulty finding the distance, Alvey suffered from blows applied by the Brazilian. In the short distance, Abreu looked better and continued to surprise his opponent. After three minutes, Klidson got the takedown on Alvey and started looking for a submission. Sam managed to defend the manauara's attacks and the fight was once again fought on the feet. Without further action, the robbery was ended.

The final stage returned with Abreu remaining more aggressive. Sam continued to walk backwards and didn't take any chances against the Brazilian. When he tried to get closer to the Brazilian, Alvey was pushed away by the manauara with jabs and kicks. With just over two minutes left in the duel, Abreu was surprised by a punch to the face and appeared somewhat stunned. The Brazilian then moved away and tried to avoid further attacks from Alvey. In the final minute, Klidson risked a sequence of punches and kicks, which hit the American, however, without the strength to knock him out. The horn then sounded and the fight was ended.
