O UFC 149, an event that will take place for the first time in the Canadian city of Calgary on July 21st, should receive some big names for its card.
During the press conference held in Rio de Janeiro last Tuesday, Dana White commented on the possibility of Jon Jones defend the light heavyweight belt against Dan Henderson in the main event of the event. José Aldo, which had initially been announced at UFC 149, would be moved to the Brazilian UFC 147 event.
On Tuesday night, the Canadian tabloid Calgary Sun said that the heavyweights Rodrigo Minotauro and Cheick Kongo reportedly entered into a verbal agreement to face each other at the event in the city.
Shortly after the news, UFC president Dana White confirmed the dispute on his Twitter account. “UFC 149. July 21, in Calgary. Fight between heavyweights Cheick Kongo and Minotauro Nogueira”, wrote the manager on the microblog.
The fight against the Frenchman will be Minotauro's first fight after breaking his arm in the defeat against Frank mir at UFC 140, also held in Canada. Kongo also comes from a setback, when he was knocked out by Mark Hunt at UFC 144.
