Hector Lombard signs contract with UFC

Considered one of the best middleweights today, the Cuban Hector Lombard is the UFC's new signing. The fighter gave up the Bellator belt this Tuesday to settle with Ultimate. The confirmation was made by Björg Rebney, president of Bellator, an organization that had the option to match any offer presented to the athlete, but preferred to give up its champion.

“We have a business model where we make conscious decisions,” said Rebney. “The UFC model is based on pay-per-view and the offer they made to Hector will be increased by the sale of packages. I am extremely confident that Hector will be UFC middleweight champion,” added Björg.

At 34 years old, Hector, who has a professional record of 34 wins and two losses. The American Top Team athlete is on an impressive streak of 20 consecutive victories. In his last appearance, in November 2011, Lombard knocked out Trevor Prangley at Bellator 58
