Although the fight wasn't as exciting as the public expected, it served to put the Brazilian back on the division's map. Claudia was coming off a defeat to Nina ansaroff, bride of Amanda nunes, in December last year, which placed it in fifth place in the category ranking.

For this fight, the athlete from Mossoró (RN) decided to change things up. After 10 years working for the Nova União academy, the same as the former featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg.) José Aldo, the fighter decided to move to the United States and change her training team. The Brazilian stated that she was not happy with her preparations in her past fights and, this time, she felt supported by the people in her corner.

Your opponent, Randa markos, 33, followed a strategy that did not favor the fight being well fought. Always moving backwards and avoiding an open fight, the Canadian-Iraqi showed little in the clash and directly influenced the booing of the audience present.

With the victory, Gadelha added her 17th victory in her MMA career and sixth since signing a contract with the UFC.

The fight

Claudia started the fight trying to surround Randa to the bars. Visibly physically fit, the fighter followed Markos' movements very closely. After almost two minutes, the fighters hadn't exchanged many blows. The clash was well studied. Gadelha managed to unleash a sequence of blows, which didn't hit directly, but added to the Brazilian's score. Cautious, Claudinha seemed very focused and seemed to be waiting for a good moment to land a fatal blow. With one minute left until the end of the assault, the audience began to demonstrate, trying to encourage the combatants to show more activity. The athletes responded to the request and began exchanging punches in the center of the octagon.

In the second stage, Gadelha continued her strategy of trying to pressure her opponent against the bars and trying to hit her with powerful blows. Randa, however, had a very high guard to avoid the Brazilian's attacks. Claudia managed to connect some sequences of punches and continued to add important points in the fight. After just over two minutes, Gadelha managed to land a good punch that exploded in the face of Markos, who shook, but recovered well. The duel, at a certain point, began to be played in the center of the Octagon. The atmosphere became tense when the fighters chose to fight openly, as a knockout could happen at any moment. With a minute and a half left in the round, the fighters once again began exchanging blows. Hit in the face, Claudia smiled at her opponent and continued attacking the Canadian nationalized Iraqi.

The athletes arrived for the final round looking to guarantee the result. Gadelha took the initiative in the stage, seeking to punch her opponent in the face, who quickly responded with a direct punch. More tired, the fighters found it difficult to find the distance. Claudinha continued looking for contact, but her opponent continued walking backwards and avoiding being hit. The fans began to boo the fighters for their lack of combativeness in the duel. At one point, Gadelha provoked Randa, calling her opponent to fight and was answered. Markos began to take more risks and opened up the possibility for the Brazilian to connect a blow on the counterattack. At the end of the fight, Randa was the one who started to call Gadelha into the fight, but there was no more time for anything.
