UFC 145: Jones dominates Rashad and defends light heavyweight belt

Jon Jones This Saturday (21), he proved why he is the best light heavyweight in the world. Facing Rashad, his former teammate, the American controlled the five rounds and abused his elbows to win the deal in a unanimous decision from the judges and defend the Ultimate light heavyweight division title for the third time.

During the UFC 145 promotion, Rashad evans stated that he knew the game well. Jon Jones and that he would beat his former teammate. But from the beginning of the first round, Jones showed enormous evolution and variation in his strikes to give his challenger no chance. Working well with frontal thrusts, Jon controlled the actions and avoided closing the distance to enter the challenger's range of action.

Evans' only great moment in the fight was at the end of the first round, when he landed a powerful high kick that surprised the champion. But Jones absorbed it well and continued the fight.

From the second round onwards, the champion took control of the fight and connected several jabs on the challenger, who tried to counterattack without success. Famous for his variety of blows, “Bonnes”, as he is known, even used shoulder strikes to punish his opponent. But it was the traditional arsenal of elbows that punished Rashad throughout the fight.

Rothwell surprises and beats Schaub with an upset
In the most exciting fight of the night, veteran Ben Rothwell surprised the favorite Brendan Schaub. At the beginning of the fight, Rothwell suffered from Schaub's aggressiveness, who applied harsh punishment with boxing blows. However, just when he seemed sold, Ben recovered spectacularly. With a strong cross, which connected with Brendan's chin, the North American managed a knockdown. Wasting no time, Rothwell continued the punishment on the ground and forced the referee to end the fight.
