The days pass and the expectation for the duel between Jon Jones e Thiago Marreta it just increases. The fighters will fight the main fight of the UFC 239, this Saturday (6) for the title of the light heavyweight category (93kg.), in the United States. Two days before the meeting, Jones commented on the physical strength of his opponent, who has shown a high gain in muscle mass for the commitment. For 'Bones', Thiago's muscles can harm him during the fight. The information was given in a recent interview with 'MMA Junkie'.

“MMA is an endurance sport. It's a 25-minute fight. I believe that in the first two rounds his (Marreta) muscles will work in his favor. Anything after that, he’s just going to be carrying extra weight and I think it’s going to backfire on him,” said Jones.

The statement was made due to recent images published regarding the Brazilian's physique, which has been visibly larger than in previous editions. Physical strength, however, can be used as a strategy by Thiago to try to minimize an obvious difference between the fighters' heights. The first time 'Bones' and Marreta performed the traditional face-off, it was possible to observe a significant difference between the athletes.

Thiago debuted for the UFC originally working in the welterweight category (up to 83,9kg). While he was in the lower category, the athlete from Cidade de Deus went through good and bad times. However, he never came close to title contention. Marreta moved to light heavyweight (up to 93kg.) in September last year and, since then, he has had four fights, winning in all of them, which gave him a chance to try to beat Jon Jones, who, for many, is the best MMA athlete of all time.

For most mixed martial arts experts, the chances of Thiago triumphing over 'Bones' are slim. The athlete can then bet on a knockout against the North American, who has never been punished by any opponent, except when he faced Alexander Gustafson, in 2013, in which the champion emerged victorious, but left the octagon with a very bruised face.

If he wins, Marreta will be the protagonist of one of the biggest upsets in the history of the sport. However, the athlete will act with the benefit of the doubt and could, in fact, surprise his opponent this Saturday.
