The champion of bantamweight (up to 61,2kg.) and featherweight (up to 65,7kg.), Amanda nunes, commented again about his compatriot Chris Cyborg, whom he defeated in December last year, winning his second belt in two different divisions. The 'Leoa' stated that the Curitiba native was offered a rematch, but, however, Cris refused to fight. “She didn’t accept it. I don’t know why”, Amanda replied without giving much explanation.
In addition to the question about the rematch, Nunes was asked about her thoughts regarding the way Cyborg entered the duel at the end of the year. Many believed in Cris' superiority, who ended up being surprised with a knockout in the first round.
“I knew if she got hit, she would go crazy. She's a tough athlete. She presses. I knew that when I hit her, she would want to prove that she is stronger than me”, added the 'Lioness'.
However, there is another version of the facts about a new duel between Nunes and Cyborg. In a recent interview, the Curitiba native stated that Dana had lied when stating that a rematch was offered to her. Cris said that the day after her defeat she sent a message to White requesting an immediate rematch, however, it was not answered.
The relationship between Cyborg and the UFC has never been the best. Although Ultimate created a category so that the fighter could showcase her talent, there was never much impetus from the organization to promote many fights for the Brazilian.
Cyborg has been recognized in women's MMA since she became champion of the extinct 'Strikeforce' in 2009. In 2013, the athlete moved to 'Invicta FC' and, there, won the featherweight title in her second appearance. Cris defended the belt on three occasions until finally signing a contract with the UFC in 2016.
Amanda nunes He has already declared his desire to retire soon. However, a rematch against Cyborg will always be requested by MMA enthusiasts.
