If there is one fact that is true, it is that no one is 100% satisfied with everything. A clear example is that of Daniel Cormier. The current holder of the heavyweight title and considered the best pound-for-pound player today revealed his frustration at not having faced Brock Lesnar in contention for the category belt before retiring from MMA. In a recent interview with 'TMZ Sports', the fighter spoke about his feelings regarding the fight that did not take place.

“I was disappointed. I wanted to fight Brock. I've known him for a long time. I fought with Brock for a long time in Wrestling and I've always been a fan of his,” said Cormier.

The athlete also recalled the incident that occurred after UFC 226, in July last year, when DC had just become world heavyweight champion over Stipe Miocic, and, still in the octagon, challenged the WWE giant to a fight. At the time, Lesnar, who was in the arena, went up to the Octagon and created a moment of tension by pushing Daniel.

“We had that great moment at UFC 226. It was fun. But we should only worry about things we can control. I can't control the fact that he doesn't want to fight anymore. He is retired,” said DC.

The champion, despite being disappointed, however, recognizes the effort that the company made, together with the athlete's manager, to get the fight scheduled. However, the values established and requested by Brock's representatives were not sufficient to complete the deal.

“I know the UFC and Brock tried to make this happen. It just didn't happen. So, I thank the parties involved who tried to schedule the fight. It just didn’t work,” Cormier confessed.

After the negotiations were officially closed, the UFC acted quickly and tried to schedule Daniel's new commitment. The board confirmed the rematch between DC and Miocic, who was dethroned by his compatriot almost a year ago. The duel will take place on August 17th and could mark Cormier's last commitment as a professional MMA athlete.
