Newspaper sentences Fabrício Morango to jail, but fighter denies accusation

Lightweight Fabrício Morango has his return to the Octagon scheduled for June 7th, at UFC 148, against Melvin Guillard. But on Tuesday night (17), the fighter was surprised with some harsh news. The newspaper “O Dia” published on its website that Morango had been arrested for not paying child support to his ex-wife, with whom he has a son.

However, as soon as he heard about the article, Fabrício, who lives in the United States, made a point of denying the process and said he was surprised by the publication of the Rio newspaper.

“I have already spoken to my lawyer, there is nothing pending, I am fulfilling my duties, and we will try to find out who the journalist is who released this slanderous news that is defaming me,” said Morango, in an interview with Sportv.

“My son is living with me here, his mother, who is in Europe, left him here by mutual agreement. There is no process going on… Anyone who knows me knows how present I am in my son’s life,” he said. The fighter did not hide his discomfort with the news and made a point of reaffirming that he owes nothing to his ex-wife.

"I'm very upset. That's what happens: the guy gets a little more exposure, then slanderous news starts to appear. I have nothing to owe”, he concluded.
