Light weight (up to 70,3kg.) Donald Cerrone believes he will compete for the category title in the UFC 242. Even with the confirmed duel between Khabib Nurmagomedov e Dustin poirier, 'Cowboy' imagines that one of the athletes will get injured during training. The information was released after a recent interview with 'ESPN'. Cerrone has a commitment scheduled against Tony Ferguson this weekend, at UFC 238.

“I think I'll go through Tony, and Khabib or Dustin will get injured, and I'll replace one of them in September, in Abu Dhabi”, confessed the athlete.

The fighter, who is used to accepting fights at the last minute, however, said that it is just a guess, but he believes that the Russian could be the athlete to get injured due to the history between the two.

“That's just a guess. I think Khabib is prone to that. I was supposed to face him on three or four occasions, but every time, he got hurt,” reported 'Cowboy. “I think it’s his training style. He is subject to it. But I really don’t know,” said the fighter.

Even if his 'dream' comes true, Cerrone will have to defeat a difficult opponent next Saturday (8). The North American will present himself against his compatriot, Tony Ferguson, in a direct dispute for the title challenger position of the winner of the duel between Nurmagomedov and Poirier, which was confirmed by the UFC earlier this week for September 7th.

Currently, Cerrone occupies fourth place in the division rankings, behind only Conor McGregor e Tony Ferguson, in addition, of course, to the linear and interim champions, Khabib and Dustin.

The North American is coming off a great victory over To the fifth, at UFC Ottawa, which took place just over a month ago, in Canada. At 36 years old, the athlete has accumulated three consecutive victories in the organization and is in one of the best moments of his career.

The fighter has 46 fights, with 34 victories, 11 setbacks and one draw. His opponent this Saturday, however, comes from an incredible streak of 11 consecutive victories. Ferguson's last defeat came in 2012, more than seven years ago.
