Johnny Walker hopes to fight Jon Jones later this year: 'My Christmas present'

The Brazilian has already learned to admire the light heavyweight Johnny Walker. With three Ultimate fights and impressive results, the athlete already sees himself close to being able to challenge the current belt holder, Jon Jones. In an interview with 'MMA Junkie' the fighter stated his desire to face the North American this year.

“A fight against Jon Jones It's very important to me, because I watched his fights before I even started training. Before I knew what I wanted for my life. It's part of my story. It’s a dream to face him,” said Walker.

Even winning and convincing in his three UFC duels, the Brazilian still needs to prove himself within the organization. To do this, Johnny himself says that he needs to have more fights before facing what is considered, by many, the greatest MMA athlete of all time.

“The more experience I have, the better for me. I'm ready. Maybe a top 5 would be good. Maybe two more fights before Jones. Maybe Jones will be my Christmas present”, concluded the athlete.

The desire to be Ultimate champion over Jones, however, could be hindered by a fighter known to Brazilians. Jon has a fight scheduled to face Walker's compatriot, Thiago Marreta, UFC 239, on July 6th. Although he is seen as an underdog, Thiago hopes to shock the world and put an end to 'Bones' reign, which he hasn't lost in almost 10 years.

Johnny Walker He is currently 27 years old. In his professional record, the light heavyweight has already had 20 fights, winning 17 and losing on three occasions.

Jones, in turn, is 31 years old and, in 26 duels, he lost only once, when he was disqualified for throwing an illegal elbow at Matt Hamill, in 2009. After that, Jon participated 15 times, winning all of them.
