Tyron Woodley reveals lesson learned from Jon Jones against bad times: 'Embrace the chaos'

Former welterweight champion explained his steps to move away from the difficult moments he recently experienced in his career

The former welterweight champion (up to 77kg.), Tyron woodley revealed that he was inspired by Jon Jones to overcome difficulties experienced in their career. In a recent interview with the program 'Ariel Helwani MMA Show', the North American talked about how he has been dealing with the bad times in MMA. Woodley was recently removed from the main event of the UFC Minneapolis, which takes place on June 29th.

“I'm best when I'm in chaos and I had to deal with that. I heard Jon Jones say that he doesn't train between one fight and another. I thought, 'Damn, I thought I was the only one. It was like it was my hidden secret”, confessed Tyron.

The former champion, however, tried to avoid controversy and limited himself to comparing his style to Jones only in this situation, showing a lot of respect to the current light heavyweight champion (under 93kg).

“I'm not going to compare myself to Jon, because in my opinion he might be the best MMA athlete we've ever seen, but Jon has had so much chaos in his life outside of the octagon, but he's managed to improve in his fights,” Woodley reported. . “I figured it out. Do not run away. Don't hide from it (chaos). God built you in a unique way”, commented the welterweight.

Tyron woodley held his last fight when he was dominated for five rounds in the duel against the Nigerian Kamaru Usman and lost the welterweight belt in March, at UFC 235. After the setback, Ultimate scheduled, for July, a new fight in which the former champion would repeat a performance against Robbie Lawler, which took place in 2016 and established Woodley as number one in the division.

Last week, however, rumors emerged that Tyron had been injured and would not be able to perform in the main event of the UFC 239. The information was confirmed and Lawler's rematch was officially removed from the card.

Tyron woodley, 37, debuted in Ultimate in 2013. Since then, the athlete has performed on 13 occasions, winning nine, drawing one and suffering three setbacks.
