The strawweight division (up to 56.7 kg.) of Invicta FC has a new champion. In an eight-man tournament, held in the city of Kansas, in the United States, Van Buren began the tournament by submitting Manjit Kolekar with an armbar. In the semifinals, she faced former UFC fighter Ju Thai. The Minas Gerais native, who had beaten Danielle Taylor in a split decision in the quarter-finals, was unable to get past the North American. She worked throughout the fight in the clinch and took the fight to the judges' decision.
In the grand final, Brianna Van Buren once again showed her skills on the floor. After a first round advantage, she submitted Kailin Curran with a rear naked choke in the second round and took home the title.
