the american Donald Cerrone is definitely back in the fight for the UFC lightweight (up to 70.3 kg) belt. The 'Cowboy', as he is known, put on an almost perfect fight against To the fifth, fourth in the category ranking, and won by unanimous decision from the judges (49-45. 49-46. 49-45). The duel was the main attraction of UFC Ottawa, held this Saturday (04), in Canada.

With the result, Cerrone reaches his 36th victory as a professional – he also has 11 defeats – and extends his lead as the athlete with the most triumphs in the UFC. He reached an incredible 23 victories in the Octagon. Since the birth of his son in June 2018, the Cowboy still doesn't know what it's like to lose and has three positive results in a row.

“Not bad for an old man, right? These guys are missing a chance to beat up an old man. Papa Cerrone is undefeated with three wins-0. I want the belt unless McGregor wants to fight me. I’m ready to fight in July,” said Cerrone still in the Octagon.

The fight

Fourth placed in the lightweight rankings, Iaquinta entered the Octagon as the favorite. But Al ended up surprised by Cerrone's movement in the first round. With greater reach and moving a lot, he took the initiative in the dispute and connected good blows. In turn, Iaquinta only relied on counterattacks and failed takedown attempts.

In the second round, Iaquinta managed to balance the dispute and land good blows on Cerrone, who also remained active. At the end of the partial, Al put together a good sequence that made the Cowboy bend his knee.

Recovering from the scare, Cerrone came back with everything in the third round. He walked forward combining punches and kicks, while Iaquinta just retreated. Before the end of the round, Donald connected with an unpretentious jab and took Al to the canvas, who was saved by the bell.

Even at 36 years old and with 48 fights under his belt, Cerrone increased the pace even more in the fourth round. He connected a beautiful front stomp – which was reminiscent of the classic Anderson Silva em Vitor belfort – and again took Iaquinta to the canvas. In his eagerness to end the fight, he went to the back, but was unable to secure the rear naked choke and Al showed courage to survive the fight.

At a disadvantage on the cards, Iaquinta went all or nothing in the fifth round. He fired powerful swings, but Cerrone dodged all the attacks and still walked forward connecting good punches. In the end, Cowboy exposed himself and almost got a knockout. He combined good punches and threw a flying knee as Al went down. He even hammered his rival on the ground until the bell sounded.
