Dana White teases Ronaldo Jacaré: 'the fourth in the ranking must beat whoever is behind'

Between praise and criticism, UFC president commented on the Brazilian's fight, who was defeated last weekend by the 10th in the division, Jack Hermansson

UFC president, Dana White, criticized and praised the Ronaldo Jacare after the UFC Fort Lauderdale. The statements were made to 'Combate' after the event took place last Saturday (27). With the defeat to Hermansson, Jacaré moved further away from the fight for the organization's middleweight title (up to 83,9kg).

'When we talk about the promise of a title fight, it would be if he had beaten the 10th ranked player. You can't go in there worried about the belt. If you're the best, you can beat everyone who's coming up', commented Dana. 'He's fourth. If you are fourth place, you can certainly beat 10th place. But that didn't work for him', reported the agent.

Dana, however, did not completely rule out a possible fight for the Brazilian for the title, although it would be difficult. The president gave clues about what Ronaldo should do to stand out in the category again.

'A lot of things happen. People get injured. The path to the title is to keep beating everyone who crosses your path. There are no guarantees in this life, ever, about anything,' White said.

The president, however, also praised the will of the Espírito Santo, who, although he did not perform well, managed to endure five tough rounds against his opponent.

'Jacaré has had other opportunities to compete for the division title before (the Brazilian was defeated by Kelvin Gastelum, Yoel romero e Robert whittaker). It didn't work out again today. But Jacaré doesn't run away from the fight. He is very tough, very resistant, he keeps moving forward; "He's a hungry fighter and he's very exciting to watch," Dana praised.

While Jacaré moves away from the title fight, his opponent from the last fight, Jack hermansson, seems to have won over the organization's directors after his impeccable performance against the Brazilian. However, despite the Swede's good performance, Dana tried to curb expectations about the athlete's future.

'Hermansson really surprised me. He absorbed all the blows and even tried to give Jacaré a guillotine, which is unthinkable. He wasn't afraid to go to the ground with Jacaré. The guy was having an incredible night. We can't talk about the title (for Jack), because we still have an interim champion and a linear one (Israel adesanya e Robert whittaker), but he's on the right path, concluded White.

The new defeat showed that Jacaré is really not going through a good moment in his career. In his last five fights, the 39-year-old Brazilian was defeated on three occasions. One, including, for the current linear champion of the division, Robert whittaker.
