Jon Jones passed cleanly the anti-doping test carried out by the United States Anti-Doping (USADA) and the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) after UFC 232. However, the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) announced this Thursday (23) that the ' Bones' test performed during the event's weigh-in showed a small amount (33 picograms) of turinabol.

The president of CSAC, Andy Foster explained that because the turinabol is a small portion, it is not a new case of doping. He once again stated that the substance found in the USADA exam (before UFC 232) and VADA are remnants of doping discovered after the second fight against Daniel Cormier in 2017. After being caught auditioning, Jones was suspended for 15 months.
“Scientists kept their speech. Jones has already been punished for these metabolites. There is no way to punish twice for the same infraction”, said Foster in an interview with the North American website MMA Fighting.
Jones won Alexander Gustafson and regained the light heavyweight belt at UFC 232. His first title defense will be against Anthony Smith at UFC 235, March 02nd. To be able to play in Las Vegas, 'Bones' will have to be cleared by the Nevada Athletic Commission.
