Another fight has been added to the Rizin 14 card to be held on December 31st in Saitama, Japan. Brazilians Gabi Garcia and Barbara Nepomuceno will face each other at catchweight (up to 102,5 kg). The fight was announced on Wednesday (12).

Barbara's coach, Augusto Nasser, launched a challenge on social media to the multi-time jiu-jitsu champion in 2016. However, the free weight fight was not scheduled by the Japanese MMA organization.
When the fight was confirmed by Rizzin, Gabi Garcia posted a message to her rival on her social network.
“The moment of truth has come. The fight the fans wanted. I never wanted to face a Brazilian, but she asked, and she offended me. The time everyone was waiting for has arrived. I never chose opponents. All insults and lack of respect towards me and the Japanese fans will be resolved inside the ring”, posted the jiu-jitsu champion.
Gabi Garcia will face her compatriot in the sixth fight of her professional MMA career. In five fights, the Brazilian has five victories. The jiu-jitsu champion was scheduled to face Shinobu Kandori, but the fight was canceled after the Rio Grande do Sul woman was 12,7kg over her agreed weight.
Barbara Nepomuceno is the only Brazilian former WGP champion. Against Gabi, the native from Espírito Santo will make her MMA debut.
