With new surgery scheduled, Bethe Correia refuses to fight with Tonya Evinger at UFC São Paulo

Ultimate proposed that the Brazilian replace Ketlen Vieira in the co-event in São Paulo, but due to eye surgery that will take place in September, 'Pitbull' declined the offer

Due to a knee injury, Ketlen Scallop was removed from the co-main event of UFC Sao Paulo. She would face Tonya Evinger on September 22nd at the Ibirapuera gym. Ultimate was looking for a new opponent and Bethe Correia was summoned. The Brazilian had to refuse the offer, as she will undergo eye surgery again at the beginning of September.

“I received an offer from the UFC, but I have surgery scheduled for next week to resolve a small eye problem, so I don't have any problems with the doctors again for the next fight,” explained Bethe.

After an accident in October last year, Pitbull underwent surgery on her left eye for the first time. In March of this year, the woman from Rio Grande do Norte underwent a new procedure to correct a healing problem.

In early August, Bethe was removed by the California Athletic Commission from the fight against Irene aldana at the beginning of the month at UFC 227. The organization considered the Brazilian unfit for the fight due to a problem with her left eye.

At 35 years old, the Brazilian will undergo her third eye surgery in the first week of September. She hopes her recovery will be shorter so she can return to training and fight later this year.

the last fight of Bethe Correia was a defeat in the third round against Holly holm in June 2017. The former bantamweight title challenger has a record of 14 fights with 10 wins, three setbacks and one draw.
