Bellator President confirms that Lyoto Machida will be a 'wild card' in the organization

Signed just five days ago by Bellator, Lyoto Machida has already won the favor of the organization's president, Scott Coker. In a press conference on Tuesday (26), the commander announced that the new hire will not only compete in the middleweights, but will also move between categories.

Fighters moving into other categories is nothing new for Bellator. The organization has a history of letting fighters switch between weight divisions in search of the most exciting fights. An example is the light heavyweight champion Ryan bader who is competing in the heavyweight Grand Prix.

The fact that Lyoto can change categories becomes more interesting, as he will meet old UFC rivals, Bader himself, and the middleweight champion, Gegard Mousasi. Machida won important victories over his opponents.

Machida joins the Bellator team in a sequence of two fights that have not yet been announced. The Brazilian fighter is coming off a decision victory over Erik Anders and a knockout in Vitor belfort.
