The first round of the Bellator heavyweight tournament pits the loudmouths Chael Sonnen e Rampage Jackson, former UFC fighters. And they will have the mission of helping the event surpass their former employers, as the two will fight at Bellator 192, a show that takes place on January 20th, the same date as UFC 220.

At a promotional event with his opponent, Sonnen seemed aware of the mission and says he dreams of surpassing Ultimate in ratings – Bellator 192 will be broadcast on cable TV in the United States, while the main card of UFC 220 is on pay. -per-view.
“I am competitive. I want to beat the UFC guys. My ego is directly related to audience numbers. I always check the audience, every time I fight. Every interview I do, every podcast I'm on, I check the numbers. It's a competition. They will do their show and we will do ours. They will fight for our viewers and we will fight for their fans. And that's it. I want to beat the TV audience, the live audience and even whoever sells the most t-shirts on the day of the fight”, commented Sonnen to the press, in statements reproduced by the North American website MMA Fighting, before making a friendly face with Rampage.
Bellator 192 will be headlined by yet another defense of the Welterweight title. Douglas lima. The Brazilian faces the former UFC Rory McDonald, who debuted in his new home with a victory over Paul Daley. Rampage x Sonnen should be the co-main fight of the show, and will serve as the first quarterfinal of the GP that will decide the new Bellator heavyweight champion. UFC 220, on the other hand, will feature two title fights – the champions Stipe Miocic e Daniel Cormier defend their belts against Francis Ngannou e Volkan oezdemirrespectively.
