Brazilian ex-UFC fighter faces Pride veteran at event in Rio de Janeiro

Thiago Silva returns to fight in Brazil after three years; Léo Leite, two-time world jiu-jitsu black belt champion, will also be present at the event

The Brazilian Thiago Silva, a former UFC fighter, will face North American Rameau Sokoudjou, a Pride and UFC veteran, in the main fight of Fight2Night, an event that will take place on November 4th, in Rio de Janeiro. The event will also feature Leonardo Leite, Brazilian two-time world jiu-jitsu black belt champion and former champion of two categories at Legacy MMA. He faces Danny Mitchell, who also had a stint in Ultimate, in the co-main event of the night.

At 33 years old, Silva was considered a great promise in the light heavyweight division, but saw his career go downhill after a series of extra-octagon confusions, such as, for example, when he was arrested after threatening his ex-wife with a gun, the which culminated in his dismissal from Ultimate. In total, he has 17 wins, five losses and one no-contest in his career. His last performance was last April, when he beat the unknown Stav Economou on points.

Sokoudjou, in turn, has fought in organizations such as the UFC, Pride and Dream and Bellator, in addition to having faced several renowned names in world MMA, cases of Lyoto Machida, Glover Teixeira, Ricardo arona, Rogério Minotouro, Gegard Mousasi and others. At 32 years old and with a record of 17 triumphs and 14 setbacks, his most recent performance was in May of this year, when he needed just 37 seconds to knock out Matt Hamill.
