Current UFC light heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier disagrees with the treatment given by the organization to Jon Jones, who could then have an elimination fight to compete for the title.

Jones was scheduled to face Cormier for the belt last month, at UFC 200, but was removed from the fight after being caught in a drug test. Faced with the possibility of receiving a reduced sentence, the North American was speculated to be in a title eliminator against Anthony Johnson, the winner of which would receive the opportunity to fight for the belt.

However, Cormier considers that such a scenario would be unfair to Johnson, who, last Saturday (20), achieved an impressive and quick knockout over Glover Teixeira. The two athletes believe that the UFC gives Jones several perks.

“You know, I worry about myself, but Anthony talked to me and said he doesn't think Jon deserves anything. The time has come to stop spoiling this kid, stop giving him things he doesn't deserve”, analyzed Cormier, in conversation with the program “UFC Tonight”, on the North American broadcaster “FOX Sports”.

“He [Johnson] feels that Jones should earn his return, and I agree. I agree. I think I should fight 'Rumble', but that's between Anthony and Jon. The only problem is that I would have to wait for a long time if they fight. Jon can't even fight yet, he's not even released yet”, recalled the champion, who works as a commentator on the program.

According to the “MMA Fighting” website, Jones could face a maximum punishment of one year for the doping case, which would leave him out until mid-2017. His official punishment, however, should be announced soon.
