Rafael dos Anjos countered Conor McGregor and stated that the Irishman “would be dead” if the two had actually shared the Octagon in March this year, in the main fight of UFC 196.
At the time, Dos Anjos left the fight on the eve after suffering a broken foot in the final stretch of his training. McGregor then declared that, if the fight had happened, he would have knocked out the Brazilian and won his second simultaneous UFC belt.
Rafael took to Twitter to respond to McGregor's statements, and did so in a very firm manner. “If you had fought me, you wouldn’t be two-division champion. You would be dead. Look what an out of shape Diaz did to you. I will come back”, wrote the Brazilian.
Dos Anjos refers to his replacement in combat, Nate diaz, who, despite having accepted the fight two weeks in advance, won by submission in the second round.
McGregor and Diaz will rematch on August 20, in the main fight of UFC 202. Dos Anjos is still recovering from the defeat to Eddie Alvarez in July, which cost him the UFC lightweight title.
