the pernambuco Raphael Assunção will return to the WEC Octagon on November 11th, in Las Vegas, when the 52nd edition of the event will be held. Your opponent will be the North American L. C. Davis, former athlete from the now-defunct International Fight League (IFL), who won three of his four fights in the organization. The confrontation will take place in the featherweight category, whose current champion is the Brazilian José Aldo.
Assunção is a jiu-jitsu black belt and has 15 wins and three losses in MMA, having been defeated in his last two fights in the event. In January of this year, he faced the former category champion, Urijah faber, where he was finished with a rear naked choke in the third round. In the last month of June, Assunção was surpassed by the Brazilian Diego nunes by split decision of the judges at WEC 49.
In turn, Davis has 16 wins and three losses on his record, being a specialist in wrestling and boxing. Like his next opponent, the American had his last fight at WEC 49. On that occasion, Davis was defeated by his compatriot Josh Grisp via submission (guillotine choke) at 2 minutes and 33 seconds of the first round.
WEC 52 will also feature another Brazilian on the card. The Nova União athlete, Wagnney fabiano, will face American Brian Bowles in a featherweight fight. The main attraction of the event will be the premiere of Urijah faber in the WEC bantamweight category when facing the Japanese Takeya mizugaki in the last fight of the night.
