Vitor Belfort faces Anderson Silva in 2011

On Wednesday morning the news broke out in the international press that Vitor belfort would have been injured and would not have faced the Yushin Okami at UFC-122 (remember here), however, to the surprise of many, the Brazilian fighter was removed from the fight, but not due to injury.

UFC president Dana White announced on his Twitter that Belfort will face Anderson Silva at the beginning of 2011, in a fight valid for the middleweight belt at the event. Vitor will replace the North American Chael Sonnen, caught during the anti-doping test in the fight against Anderson himself at UFC-117 (find out what happened here).

“Vitor is not injured, he will fight Anderson for the title. The winner of Marquardt and Okami will be next (to fight for the belt)”, stated Dana on the microblog.
