Ex-UFC man arrested in Europe for illegal marijuana cultivation

Karlos Vemola will serve a year alongside his wife, father-in-law and mother-in-law for possessing more than R$100 worth of drugs

Former UFC fighter Karlos Vemola was arrested in Europe for illegal cultivation of marijuana and will have to serve a one-year sentence for the crime, alongside three accomplices.

The information was released by the newspaper “International Business Times”. According to the publication, Vemola, his partner Sarah Sharp and her parents were convicted by the Hertfordshire court, in England, of conspiracy and illegal cultivation of marijuana.

According to the police report, made during Vemola's arrest, the former fighter was carrying the equivalent of £18,2 in marijuana (approximately R$102, at the current price).

Vemola ended his career with a record of 16 wins and five losses. In the UFC, however, the fighter did not have a good run, obtaining only two triumphs and four setbacks. In his last fight in the octagon, the Czech was submitted by the Brazilian Gaius Monster, at the TUF Brasil 2 Finale, held in 2013, in Fortaleza (CE).
