TUF champion arrested after bar fight in the US, says website

Julianna Peña was arrested in the city of Spokane and spent more than 12 hours in jail before paying bail of almost R$8.

Unfortunately, cases of MMA fighters involved in police controversies are not that rare and the name of the most recent protagonist of a scandal in the United States was surprising. According to the North American press, the TUF 18 champion Julianna Pena was arrested in the city of Spokane after getting involved in a bar fight.

The information was released by the “MMA Fighting” website. According to the publication, Spokane police responded to a report of a fight outside a bar around 2 a.m. on Sunday (20). Two people, including Peña, were arrested in the action. The fighter would only have been released almost 12 hours later, upon payment of bail in the amount of US$2 (R$7,9, at the current exchange rate).

Julianna Pena has not yet made an official statement after the incident. Also speaking to “MMA Fighting”, the UFC said it is aware of the case, but is awaiting more information to take a position on the episode. In the coming days, Peña must still be tried and could be fined up to US$5 (R$19,8) and sentenced to up to one year in prison.

At 26, Julianna Pena has a professional record of seven wins and two losses. The “Venezuela Fox” comes from a victory over Jessica Eye, in October this year. In addition to the TUF 18 title, Julianna stood out in the edition by playing the coach Ronda Rousey cry, after beating veteran Shayna Baszler in the first knockout round of the tournament.
