Many were disappointed with the Russian's choice, as a large part of the public hoped that the legendary fighter would finally sign a contract with the UFC. However, Emelianenko justified his choice and recalled the ties he has with Japan, where he achieved the greatest achievements of his career.

“I'm very happy to be able to fight in Japan again. MMA has a rich history in this country and many fighters started their careers there. My fight will take place at the new Japanese event, which will be led by the former owner of PRIDE, Nobuyuki Sakakibara. In the near future we will announce my opponent's name. The tournament will have the participation of several Russian athletes”, said Fedor, in a statement sent to the Russian website “UnionMMA”.

To date, there is little information about the event at which Fedor will make his debut. What is known is that the fights will take place in rings and will be attended by Bellator athletes, as the new event will form a kind of partnership with the North American promotion.
