It wasn't this time that Erick silva had a good run of victories in the Octagon. The “Capixaba Phenomenon”, as it is known, performed below expectations against Neil Magny this Sunday (23) and ended up defeated in a unanimous decision by the judges in the co-main fight of UFC Fight Night 74. After the setback, Erick vented on social media and said he was embarrassed by his performance in the fight, but also hinted that he would have fought hurt.

“About the fight: honestly, I didn't like my performance, and I was overcome, I was embarrassed by my performance, my body, I know that I am much more than this Erick who performed yesterday. My main mistake was having insisted on fighting, and putting not only my 'head' on the line, but also that of my trainers and doctors who did their utmost, as far as possible, to make me at least go to the fight. It wasn't a good month for me, but no one wants to know that, and it's no one's problem. I gave a ridiculous performance and deserved to lose, I paid the price for that”, wrote Erick on his official profile on Instagram.

Furthermore, Erick also suggested that he will no longer fight “on sacrifice” and promised to turn things around on his return to the octagon. “So all I can do is confirm and guarantee that the next time I step into that octagon again I will be 100% physically, without injury, and with a complete training period, otherwise I'll do what everyone else does, I'll cancel the fight. I would also like to thank everyone who has been with me in defeat and victory, I am sure that the number of people who support us is greater than those who put us down”, he concluded.

At 31, Erick silva has a professional record of 18 wins, six losses and one fight without result. After the defeat to Magny, the athlete from the Rio gym “X-Gym” completed 11 fights in the largest MMA organization on the planet and now has six triumphs and five setbacks.
