Even without fighting at UFC 189, after being cut from the event due to a rib injury suffered in his training for the duel against Conor McGregor, the brazilian José Aldo knows that he passed the surprise anti-doping test carried out on June 12th.
According to the results of the tests carried out by the Sports Medicine Research & Testing (SMRT), a laboratory accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and linked to the University of Utah in Salt Lake City (USA), Aldo showed no traces of illegal substances or metabolites and his hormone levels were within the permitted limits. The reproduction of the test was published on the “Combate” channel website.
Collecting material for the exam was surrounded by controversy. On June 11, a month before the date of UFC 189, Aldo received a visit from a North American collector at his gym, Nova União, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). With doubts about the legitimacy of the representative's credentials, the fighter's coach, Dedé Pederneiras, and the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission requested the presence of the Federal Police, which found irregularities in the employee's work visa and prevented the exam from being carried out. The test was only carried out the following day, by CABMMA itself.
