In April, the world of sport was dominated by an unusual scene: the provocative gesture from Brazilian Alex Poatán, after knocking out Jamahal hill No. UFC 300, spread beyond the octagon and reached Australia.
In the match between Sea Eagles x Titans, in the main Australian rugby league, player Jason Saab scored a point and, in celebration, reproduced the iconic celebration of the light heavyweight champion (under 93kg).

The scene quickly went viral on social media, generating questions about Saab's inspiration. In an interview after the match, the Australian player confirmed the reference to the UFC champion, praising the creativity and entertainment that the celebration provided for the fans.
“Poatan? Call, call. It's all part of the game, it's all fun. I love this sport, so it's good for the fans, they love it”, said Saab, showing admiration for the Brazilian.
However, when asked about his favorite fighter, Saab opted for a compatriot: “No, Alex Volkanovski. The Australians, come on, the Australians. Win, lose or draw.”
Saab's choice of Volkanovski, current UFC featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg), demonstrates patriotism and support for local athletes, but does not diminish the admiration for Poatan's gesture.
