The Brazilian, however, proved to be resilient and skillful, managing to reverse the situations and escape the American's attempts. In the second round, Argueta's dominance intensified, with the American landing six takedowns and controlling the center of the octagon.

However, Matsumoto's persistence was rewarded. In a takedown attempt, Argueta found himself in an unfavorable position, allowing the Brazilian to trap him in a precise guillotine. With no time to escape, he passed out with just one second left in the round.
