Four years after being submitted by Charles do Bronx at UFC Brasília, Kevin Lee revealed the consequences of the fight for his health. In a post on the social network 'X', the American stated that he had both knees destroyed by the Brazilian and that he needed to undergo three surgeries.
“Charles destroyed both my knees in the first round of that fight and we kept fighting. I've had three knee surgeries and since then I'm still recovering four years later,” wrote Lee, who is currently out of contract with the UFC.

The fight between Lee and Do Bronx took place in March 2020, in the federal capital, and was the Brazilian's penultimate before winning the lightweight belt. On that occasion, Charles showed superiority in striking and jiu-jitsu, and submitted his opponent with a guillotine choke in the third round. It was the seventh consecutive victory for Charles, who became the record holder for submissions in UFC history, with 14.
Lee, in turn, was unable to recover from the defeat and lost two of his next three fights. At 31 years old, he has a record of 19 triumphs and eight setbacks in MMA. The American even challenged for the interim lightweight belt in 2017, but was defeated by Tony Ferguson.
