Paulo Borrachinha faces medical suspension of up to six months after defeat to Robert Whittaker

Back in the Octagon after a year and a half of inactivity, Paulo borrachinha could be sidelined for another long period after the defeat to Robert whittaker in the co-main event of UFC 298, last Saturday (17). Protagonists of a 15-minute 'war', the Brazilian and the Australian face a medical suspension of up to six months due to possible injuries suffered in the duel. The suspensions were announced by the California State Athletic Commission.

Defeated in the unanimous decision of the judges, Paulo borrachinha received 180 days of suspension related to possible fractures in the foot and right leg. If he receives medical clearance related to these suspicions, the Brazilian still faces 60 days due to a cut on his face and 30 days of minimum suspension due to the 'war'.

Even though we win the battle, Robert whittaker faces the same 180 days of suspension due to a possible broken hand, in addition to a minimum suspension of 30 days, even if it proves that there was no serious injury.

In addition to Borrachinha and Whittaker, seven more fighters face suspensions of up to 180 days: Henry Cejudo, Mackenzie dern, Marcos Foot, Carlos Vera, Mingyang Zhang, Danny Barlow e Josh Quinlan.
