Eddie Alvarez signs with UFC and faces Donald Cerrone in September

Former Bellator champion replaces Bobby Green against 'Cowboy' at UFC 178 in Las Vegas

It was bad announced his departure from Bellator and Eddie Alvarez already has his next appointment scheduled. The 30-year-old American signed a contract with the UFC and will make his debut next month, when he will face Donald Cerrone at UFC 178, in Las Vegas, in the United States.

The former Bellator lightweight champion is on a three-fight winning streak in his career, defeating Shinya Aoki, Patricky Pitbull e Michael chandler. In his professional MMA career, the Blackzilians athlete has a record of 25 wins and just three losses, the last of which was in November 2011.

Cerrone, a year older than Alvarez, is competing intensely within the UFC, having already had three fights in 2014 alone. The “Cowboy” is on a streak of four consecutive victories, with his last defeat being against Rafael dos Anjos in August last year. Originally, Cerrone was going to face Bobby Green at UFC 178, but with the signing of Alvarez, plans were changed.

The main fight of UFC 178 will be a flyweight belt fight between the champion, Demetrious Johnson, and Chris Cariaso.
