Daniel Cormier has been shaking up the UFC's light heavyweight division (up to 93 kg) since he decided to move down from the top category, where he had been operating until then. And the North American could drop even further in weight if he wanted, being able to join the middleweight category (up to 84 kg). At least that's what nutritionist Mike Dolce, a reference on the subject when it comes to MMA, guarantees.

Dolce, who has already contributed to the weight loss of several fighters, believes that Cormier would be able to weigh 84 kg without difficulty. “I think that if Cormier continued to have the lifestyle he currently has, receiving my guidance and working closely with me, he could weigh 84 kg to compete in a similar way to what he currently does as a light heavyweight,” assured Dolce, in interview with the “MMA Junkie Radio” podcast.

According to Dolce, Cormier would improve as a fighter if he wanted to drop even more weight. “He would gain strength, he would gain speed and he would gain endurance. Look at the photos when he weighs 93 kg. You can see that his body isn't even close to having the definition it could have. There is no definition at all, just additional weight that is non-functional. So, we could get rid of that, and that would be before the dehydration process begins”, explained the nutritionist, referring to the process that many fighters go through before stepping on the scale.
