The controversy surrounding the departure of Vitor belfort of the fight against Chris Weidman at UFC 173, held on May 24th, is close to an end. At the time, the Nevada Athletic Commission, the entity that sanctioned the event, banned the hormone replacement treatment (TRT) that the Brazilian was undergoing and he would not be able to challenge the champion for the middleweight belt without it. Vitor had already undergone a surprise anti-doping test before the ban and the Official UFC commentator even revealed that this test was altered due to excess hormones. Now, after weeks of controversy and speculation, the truth will come to light.

Vitor has a hearing scheduled at the Nevada Athletic Commission (NSAC), on June 17, to request a license to operate in the state. He has a fight scheduled against Chael Sonnen at UFC 175, scheduled for July 5th. From the moment he attends the hearing to obtain authorization to fight, the test carried out becomes public.

Although the test results obtained before UFC 173 are irrelevant, as Belfort did not request to fight at the event, the commission's executive director, Bob Bennett, wants to put an end to this issue and reveal the test results.

“The test results will be released. If Vitor belfort attend his hearing, which I'm sure he will do, the commissioners will question him on any issue, and it will certainly come to light", Bennett told the North American website “Yahoo!”.
