Earlier in the week, Justin gaethje caused controversy by classifying the 'BMF' (more thick-skinned) belt as 'stupid', even though he was scheduled to fight for the title against Dustin poirier in your next fight. However, in an interview with 'MMA Fighting', the former interim lightweight champion (up to 70,3 kg) came out in defense of the belt and seemed excited to win the fight and place the trophy on a board in the living room of his house.

“It never crossed my mind that I would be fighting for a 'BMF' belt, but it's incredible. I would love to hang it in my living room and I don't think the 'BMF' belt is stupid. I like that. And it will be wrapped around my waist,” said Poirier.
The former interim lightweight champion said he has felt fans excited for his fight against Justin gaethje and said that the duel is a possible candidate for the 'Fight of the Year' award.
“I saw people excited about the title 'BMF'. I've seen a lot of people talking about this. For me, if you look at our history, look at Justin's history, look at my history. It makes sense. All the 'Fight of the Year' candidates we were in. He comes from another organization and arrived at the UFC starring in big fights. It makes sense. It's going to be a great fight”, concluded the 'Diamante'.
The long-awaited duel between Poirier and Gaethje, valid for the 'BMF' belt, will take place at UFC 291, scheduled for July 29th. The show will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah (USA).
